Course Description
This three day instructor-led course provides customers, Hitachi Channel Partners and Hitachi Data System employees with an overview on the Hitachi Data Systems Enterprise family of hardware products and the Hitachi Basic Operating System (BOS). The course provides details on the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™ V and Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™ VM system architecture and key software products available on the enterprise systems. The classroom sessions are supported by lab exercises where learners will be given hands-on experience with the hardware and learn how to use key components of the basic operating system.

Required Knowledge and Skills
General knowledge of terms and concepts associated with open systems operating environments along with a working knowledge of the English language are required.
Prerequisite Courses: CCI0110 – Basic Storage Concepts (recommended)
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:
•Identify customer problems and requirements that may be addressed by solutions based on Hitachi Data Systems Enterprise storage systems and software
•Describe the architecture and explain the principles of operation of the Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™, Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™ V, Hitachi Universal Storage Platform™ VM , and Hitachi Network Storage Controller Model 55
• Identify the Hitachi Data System Enterprise models and
components
• Explain the Enterprise systems use of FED/BED, Cache and
Shared memory, parity groups, Emulation, LDEV and LUN
mapping
• List and describe the Hitachi Data Systems basic operating system
software and key software product offerings available on the
Enterprise systems
• Define I/O paths from host server to Enterprise systems using
Storage Navigator including LUN mapping and security
• Perform Hitachi Cache Residency Manager software operations
• Implement volume management functions such as virtual LUN
and Logical Unit Size Expansion (LUSE)
• Use Hitachi Performance Monitor feature to analyze subsystem
performance
