Course Description
This 5 day ILT course provides a detailed review of replication fundamentals and key tasks necessary to
implement in-system and remote replication for Hitachi Universal Storage Platform, Hitachi Network Storage
Controller and Hitachi Lightning 9900™ V Series enterprise storage system.
Learners are introduced to the Hitachi replication software - Hitachi ShadowImage™ Heterogeneous Replication
software, Copy-on-Write Snapshot software, and Hitachi TrueCopy™ Remote Replication software followed by
details on software specifications and operations. The learner will be able to describe corrective actions by
troubleshooting the given case scenarios. The course also covers Wide Area Network configurations, deployment considerations and WAN integration features.
The classroom sessions are supported by lab exercises where the participants will learn to install, configure and
implement replication software running on specific Hitachi Data Systems storage platforms.

• Describe the steps to configure ShadowImage Heterogeneous Replication software RAID Manager
• List the steps to perform TrueCopy software synchronous and asynchronous operations
• List key vendor products that enable TrueCopy software to meet the needs of Wide Area Networks
• Identify successful Wide Area Network configurations
• Describe storage protocol functions, components, and deployment considerations
• List key considerations for SAN deployment
• Identify WAN integration of TrueCopy software over Fibre Channel links and supported topologies
• Identify typical WAN integration best practices
• Describe key ShadowImage Heterogeneous Replication software, Copy-on-Write Snapshot software, and
TrueCopy software troubleshooting scenarios and corrective actions
• Understand USP V requirements & changes
