Course Description
This 1-day ILT course provides the learner with troubleshooting techniques and maintenance-related procedures
for the Adaptable Modular Storage models AMS200, AMS500, AMS1000 and Workgroup Modular Storage model
WMS100.
This course describes how to troubleshoot a faulty machine using the available maintenance documentation and
other troubleshooting methods such as gathering error information, appropriate interpretation and/or escalation of
error information, and necessary corrective action(s). Model specific upgrades and drive recovery processes are
also reviewed. Hands-on experience in servicing of the subsystems is provided during lab exercises.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
• Describe the best practices for cleaning and periodic maintenance of Adaptable Modular Storage system and Workgroup Modular Storage system
• Replace a defective disk drive and cause a spare-out operation (copy-back and no copy-back)
• Replace a controller
• Remove an RKA from a system
• Add an RKA to a system that is online
• Replace the ENC/SENC units
• Describe the processes for replacing other field replaceable units including: cache, interface board, power supply, fans, and battery units
• Explain the differences in performing maintenance and troubleshooting on the model AMS1000
• Troubleshoot and identify-instructor induced problems
• Identify correct sections of the maintenance manual used to identify failures, install or remove components, and decipher error and warning messages
