Course Description
This 3 day ILT course provides detail on the Hitachi HiCommand® Tuning Manager software 5.0, its architecture,
and the procedures to successfully install and configure it on Microsoft Windows and SUN Solaris operating
systems. Learners identify the purpose, benefits and major components of Tuning Manager software. They use a
pre-assessment worksheet to plan the installation of a small, medium, or large configuration.
Learners are given step-by-step procedures to install Tuning Manager server, install agents for RAID, platform
and switch. In addition, learners identify common installation issues including integration with other
HiCommand products, single sign on, database backup, upgrade procedures and maintenance and
troubleshooting. The learner sets up Tuning Manager software using the web client and performs key
configuration tasks. Learners use the Performance Reporter to ensure the installed Tuning Manager Agents are
correctly reporting to the Tuning Manager Server.
The course provides extensive lab activities designed to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience
installing and configuring Tuning Manager on Windows and Solaris operating systems.

Required Knowledge/Skills
General knowledge of terms and concepts associated with basic storage and open systems operating
environments along with a working knowledge of the English language are required.

• Describe the planning process to assure a successful installation of Tuning Manager software
• Use a pre-assessment worksheet to determine requirements and installation of a small, medium, or large configuration
• Install and configure Tuning Manager server
• Install agents for RAID, platform and switch
• Identify common installation issues including integration with other HiCommand products, single sign on, and backing up the Tuning Manager database
• Describe maintenance and troubleshooting issues and strategies
• Upgrade to Tuning Manager 5.0 from Tuning Manager 3.5 or 4.X
• Setup Tuning Manager software using the web client and perform key configuration tasks
• Use the Performance Reporter to ensure the installed Tuning Manager Agents are correctly reporting to the Tuning Manager Server
