Course Description
This three day instructor-led course provides an overview of the Hitachi
Tuning Manager software architecture and components. The course
provides details on the use of the Tuning Manager software to monitor,
analyze, diagnose, and forecast system performance.
The course includes a series of hands-on lab activities designed to
familiarize the learner with the use of reports and alarms to proactively
manage storage systems. The lab activities also include the use of
problem reporting, resolution, avoidance, and storage management
forecasting.
Required Knowledge/Skills
Basic understanding of Hitachi
Tuning Manager software.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, the learner should be able to:
• Describe the Tuning Manager position within the Hitachi Storage
Command Suite
• Describe Tuning Manager software components and architecture
• Log in and navigate the Tuning Manager Graphical User
Interface using the features of the Main Console and of
Performance Reporter
• Access and use reference materials to identify key performance
metrics and describe why they are important
• Create Agent-level Alarms and perform Agent management
• Identify the causes of performance problems using the
methodology for top-level diagnosis
• Use the Administration Graphical User Interface to perform the
following tasks:
- Manage users and permissions
- Set data polling
- Refresh Hitachi Device Manager software array configuration
- Set data retention - Configure system alerts
• Use Tuning Manager software to create performance status reports |
