Course Description
This course provides a full product overview, including in-depth knowledge required for installation, set up and
configuration, operation, administration and troubleshooting of Hitachi HiCommand? Tuning Manager software.
The course is a condensed combination training of TSI0206 and CSI0163.
The lab portion of the course provides extensive practical training in the following fields:
Installing Tuning Manager server, installing agents for RAID, platform and switch,
creating alerts to support IT service level agreements, adding users with different security levels, launching other
Hitachi HiCommand products, use of Performance Reporter to create appropriate system and user reports. Setup
of Tuning Manager software using the web client and performing key configuration tasks, single sign on, database
backup, upgrade procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting. The lab portion of the course provides training in
a Sun Solaris and/or Windows 2000/NT environment.

Hitachi Lightning 9900™ or 9900 V Series enterprise storage system
Hitachi TagmaStore® Adaptable Modular Storage or Workgroup Modular Storage

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:
• Identify the purpose and benefits of Hitachi HiCommand® Tuning Manager software 5.0
• Describe the architecture and major components of Tuning Manager software
• Describe the planning process to assure a successful installation of Tuning Manager software
• Use a pre-assessment worksheet to determine requirements and installation of a small, medium, or large configuration
• Install and configure Tuning Manager server
• Install agents for RAID, platform and switch
• Identify common installation issues including integration with other HiCommand products, single sign on, and backing up the Tuning Manager database
• Describe maintenance and troubleshooting issues and strategies
• Upgrade to Tuning Manager 5.0 from Tuning Manager 3.5 or 4.X
• Setup Tuning Manager software using the web client and perform key configuration task
• Use the Performance Reporter to ensure the installed Tuning Manager Agents are correctly reporting to the Tuning Manager Server
• List key capacity and performance metrics for each IT entity
• Describe three key Tuning Manager use-cases
• Operate Tuning Manager standard workflow
• Create Tuning Manager alerts to support IT service level agreements
• Add Tuning Manager users with different security levels
• Launch other Hitachi HiCommand® products from Tuning Manager

• Describe when to use Master Console reporting and when Performance Reporter is appropriate
