This 2 day instructor-led course is intended to provide a basic understanding of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) and other Hitachi enterprise storage system architecture for professionals who may already be familiar with Hitachi modular or other vendor storage. This course includes lecture presentations, prerecorded video demonstrations and hands-on lab activities.

  • This course is a prerequisite for THI2284 – Hitachi Unified Storage VM Differences for professionals who do not meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Hold Hitachi Certified Implementer – Enterprise professional certification
  • Have attended one or more of the core VSP training courses:
  •    CCI1999 – Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Fundamentals
  •    THI1997 – Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform Installation, Configuration and Maintenance
  •    TSI1998 – Managing Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform with Storage Navigator
  • Have passed the THI2284 Pre-qualification assessment (accessible in the Hitachi Data Systems Learning Center)

  • List 10 key differences between Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) and other enterprise storage systems as compared to Hitachi Unified Storage (HUS) and other modular storage
  • Describe the concept and structure of a Logical Device (LDEV)
  • List 5 key attributes of an LDEV
  • List 6 different ways in which LDEVs can be used
  • Describe the Virtual Storage Platform features and functions included in the Hitachi Basic Operating System (BOS) by identifying the program products
  • Describe 4 additional product bundles in addition to the BOS that are available for Virtual Storage Platform
  • Demonstrate basic VSP Storage Navigator access and operations
  • Demonstrate basic Virtual Storage Platform storage provisioning operations including Create LDEV, Configure Host Group and Map LUN
  • Describe key aspects of VSP cache architecture and internal operations
